You Can't Mute the Galaxy with the (Physical) Volume Buttons

No, putting the volume to zero doesn't do it. It still makes many sounds anyway. In fact, it makes a special sound to indicate it's on mute! Is that stupid, or what? To tell you it's on mute (which it isn't really anyway!), the Galaxy makes a sound!

Settings allows you to mute some, if maybe not all, sounds.

HTC Messages App Loves Paper Too Much

Not really. But what it does do is save blank text messages as drafts when you hit escape (because you got there by mistake, for example). Heap, anyone?

Samsung Galaxy E-Mail Alerts Are Too Single-Minded

Your only option is to open the e-mail. You should be able to trash it. What a time-saver that would be!

Samsung Galaxy Discriminates Against Password Unlock

Use a PIN or pattern? Fine. When you activate your tablet, just go ahead and swipe or type it in. But if you want to use a password, the keyboard won't appear right away. You have to click inside the password box first.

Microsoft PowerPoint (Chart) Legend Animation

You can’ animate the legend in any way on its own. Meaning you can’t animate the items in the legend. So you can’t animate a line graph that has multiple series without revealing what all the series are at the very beginning.

Logitech Mouse Controller Takes Too Much Control

Logitech’s mouse driver obliterates access to Windows 7’s mouse control, at least with regard to disabling the trackpad on the Dell Latitude. Just because I use a Logitech mouse at work doesn’t mean I use the Latitude’s trackpad anywhere at all. And every time I brush the trackpad even lightly while typing, the cursor pops over to somewhere I don’t want it.

Skype Won’t Go Quietly into Silent Mode

It just hangs out there with a system alert, asking you to confirm … and the checkbox in the alert, allowing you to say you don’t want to be warned about this again, doesn’t work. So you have to deal with the alert. Every. Single. Boot. Or. Connection. To. A. Network.

When will Google integrate Android Market into mobile search?

I want to be able to find apps with less clicking.

Steam Thinks It Should Always Have a Big Pipe

Steam frequently won't launch if there's no Internet connection. It's a little random. But it's stupid that I can't play my game (by myself) on the train.

Firefox 6 for Windows Lacks Scrollbar Context Menu

You can’t right-click on a scroll bar in Firefox in Windows and go quickly to the top of a l-o-o-o-o-ng page with your mouse, for example.

Samsung Galaxy Doesn't Know Which Way Is Up

Just when you're using it horizontally, which is most of the time for me so far.

Microsoft Office Chart (Excel) Data Area

When you delete rows or columns from an existing (Excel) data table that underlies a chart, Chart gives you error message after error message about the data range. Close the data table and reopen it, though, and now Chart understands the data-range definition.

Swype Gets Thickheaded

Once Swype misses on a word in your custom dictionary, don't bother trying again. It will never get it.
